The "Soul"

Have you ever walked a narrow road — focused on where you're going — because you just know something is waiting for you? You can feel it, even if you can’t fully explain it.

That’s how it’s felt for me.

I’ve walked that road — through noise, critics, doubts, and even my own inner voice that tried to pull me down. And yet, I kept going. Sometimes crawling. But never stopping.

Hi, I’m Pauline.

To be honest, I never thought I’d be sharing this. I never imagined I’d be here, putting my little life out into the world. I grew up in the Philippines, living a simple life — and I never once pictured myself in a different country, learning a new language, trusting strangers, building something from scratch. Even now, I still ask myself, how did I get here?

I never thought I’d get the chance to redeem myself. To find clarity and closure from the things I’ve carried — from my past and even from the weight of my present. My journey hasn’t been easy, but I’m grateful for it. It gave me something powerful: a reason to get back up, again and again, and just try… one more time.

I’m 31 now. And when I look back, I see all the moments that tested me — my resilience, my strength, my belief in what I could do. But somewhere along the way, I found something I love. Something that made me feel alive.

That “something” turned out to be Pearl of the West.

The name itself is inspired by my country of birth, the Philippines — known as the "Pearl of the Orient Sea" — and the country I was reborn in, South Dakota, USA — "The West."

It started small — just an idea, a little spark, something to pour my heart and passion into. But it quickly became more than that. Now, every time someone places an order, my hands shake — not from nerves, but from joy. My heart beats fast — from gratitude and happiness.

We are not only here to sell products. We share stories. We emphasize true value. The slow making, the traditional weaving, the tiny details, and the work behind every single item are never taken lightly. They are created with heart. The soul of the makers is part of each piece, and a new generation will continue the process as we work to preserve it.

So if you’re here reading this: Thank you — from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for your valuable time and for supporting a small dream, born from a long road and a hopeful heart. I hope you carry one of these bags like I carry this story — with strength, resilience, and the beauty that comes from inside out, carrying a little piece of something authentic and real.
